Hi there, I am Sofia
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually opened a new chapter in my life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't in the master plan. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding— unfamiliar systems, routines, and expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, ambiguity, and a lot of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Ugevup Gal Hajayo
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Covers (And Not)
This site IS:
- Practical insights from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- An official tourism board resource
- Paid-review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
